Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Aurene Prep collects, why we collect it, how it is stored, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

Aurene Prep is a browser-based study tool for the Enhanced ACT, operated by Liberating Intelligence LLC ("Aurene Prep," "we," "us," or "our"). You can reach us about privacy at support@aureneprep.com.

2. Age requirement & parental note

Aurene Prep is intended for students in grades 9–12. You must be 13 years of age or older to create an account or use the app. We do not knowingly permit anyone under 13 to register.

3. What data we collect and why

We collect only what we need to run the study experience:

• Account information — your email address and password, used to create and secure your account and to sign you in. You can take the free placement diagnostic without creating an account; anonymous diagnostic results are stored only in your browser.
• Study progress and results — your per-question answers, scoring, and progress through practice sets, so we can show your performance and pick up where you left off.
• Optional profile details — information you choose to provide such as grade level and target score, used to tailor your experience.
• Payment information — paid plans are billed through Stripe, our payment processor. Your card number and billing details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us; we keep only your plan and subscription status so the app knows what you have access to.
• Waitlist emails — if you joined our pre-launch waitlist, we store the email address you provided so we can send you updates about the app. Email us any time to be removed from the list.
• Item-level response statistics — aggregated stats about how questions are answered, used to improve the question bank and your reports.
• Anonymous usage analytics — to improve the app we record coarse, non-identifying events — such as opening the app, starting or finishing a diagnostic, and which screens are used. These events are tied only to a random, app-generated device identifier — never to your name, email, or account — and we use them solely to understand things like drop-off and return rates. We do not record your IP address for analytics, and these events are never sold or shared.
• Advertising measurement — we advertise Aurene Prep on Facebook and Instagram, and we use the Meta pixel to measure whether those ads work. It records which of our pages you opened and which of a small set of actions you took — viewing our pricing, opening the create-account screen, starting checkout, and completing a purchase — and reports them to Meta together with the plan name and price involved. We never send Meta your email address, your name, your account, or anything about your study results, scores, or answers. As with any request your browser makes to another company's server, Meta does receive your IP address and browser information, and it may set or read its own cookies in your browser. See section 6 for how to turn this off.
• Purchase confirmation sent from our server — when a subscription or bundle is paid for, our server also reports that same purchase to Meta directly, so the measurement is not lost if your browser blocks the tag. It sends the plan name, the amount, and — so Meta can tell it is the same purchase your browser already reported, and not a second one — a one-way scrambled (SHA-256 hashed) form of your email address. The scrambling happens on our server; your actual email address is never sent to Meta and cannot be recovered from the scrambled value. No name, no account identifier, and nothing about your study results is included.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

4. How your data is stored

• Supabase — account, progress, and response data are stored in Supabase, a hosted PostgreSQL backend that also provides our authentication.
• Browser localStorage — some study data is cached locally in your browser's localStorage so the app loads quickly and works smoothly. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings.

5. Third-party services

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to deliver the app:

• Supabase — database storage and authentication.
• Stripe — payment processing for paid plans. Stripe receives the details you enter at checkout (such as your card number and billing information) and handles them under its own privacy policy; we never see or store your full card details.
• OpenAI — powers the AI tutor. When you request an explanation, the relevant question text and answer context are sent to OpenAI to generate a response. No account identifiers, email, or other personal data are included in those tutor requests.
• Netlify — hosts and serves the web app.
• Meta Platforms (Facebook / Instagram) — advertising measurement only, through the Meta pixel and the server-side purchase confirmation described in section 3. Meta receives the pages and actions listed there, plus your IP address and browser information, and — for a completed purchase only — a one-way hashed form of your email address that it cannot reverse. It does not receive your email address itself, your name, your account, or any of your study data. Meta uses this information under its own Privacy Policy, including to measure and target advertising.

Each provider processes data under its own terms and privacy practices.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use browser localStorage and similar mechanisms to keep you signed in and to cache study data. Clearing your browser storage will sign you out and remove cached data on that device.

Advertising cookies. The Meta pixel described in section 3 sets its own cookies in your browser so Meta can recognise a return visit and connect it to an ad you may have seen. These are the only third-party advertising or tracking cookies on the site. You can stop them by blocking third-party cookies or using a tracking blocker in your browser, by turning on “Do Not Track”-style privacy settings offered by your browser, or by adjusting your Meta ad preferences. Blocking them has no effect on the app — every study feature works exactly the same.

We also store a random, anonymous identifier in localStorage so we can measure how often the app is reopened (for example, return rate). It is not linked to your account and contains no personal data; clearing your browser storage removes it.

7. Data retention

We keep your account and study data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records by law.

8. Your rights

You can delete your account and its data yourself at any time from within the app. You may also request to access, correct, or delete your personal data by emailing us at support@aureneprep.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

9. Children's privacy

Aurene Prep is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please contact support@aureneprep.com.

Because many of our users are between 13 and 18, we hold the advertising measurement described in sections 3 and 6 to a deliberately narrow limit: no name, account identifier, or study result is ever sent to Meta; no email address is ever sent in readable form (a completed purchase sends only a one-way hashed value Meta cannot reverse, purely so one purchase is not counted twice); Meta’s automatic collection of form-field data is switched off in our code, and we do not build advertising profiles or run interest-based targeting from anything you do inside the app. If you are a parent or guardian and you would like us to confirm what has been shared about your child, or you want it stopped, email support@aureneprep.com and we will act on it.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted connections and managed authentication through Supabase, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Data breach contact

If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users and any authorities as required by applicable law. To report a suspected security issue, email support@aureneprep.com.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of Aurene Prep after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
